Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

As we look outdoors the sun is hidden from the sky. It seems like the longer nights have been compounded by grey and overcast days. The darkness is all around us. But the darkness isn’t only seasonal. We are all reeling from the impact of a global pandemic. All of us have been isolated from the people we love and separated from communities that uphold us. The darkness is not just physical but emotional and spiritual.

The good news is that while we wait in this darkness, God’s light shines into our lives. The prophet Isaiah reminds us:

The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned…
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. –Isaiah 9:2,6

In Jesus' birth, we have seen the promises of God fulfilled. In Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we are rescued from our darkness and experience God’s peace and joy. Our hopes and prayers are that this divine life will be tangibly experienced by you and your loved ones this season.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our shared ministry at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian. As we approach the end of the year, we are very close to meeting our 2020 budget. Through your generous gifts of time, talents, and financial resources we are able to celebrate God’s light among ourselves and shine it into our surrounding neighbourhoods.

God bless you this season!
