Welcome
Opening of the Bible & Lighting of the Christ Candle
We gather in this holy moment
to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ,
The Prince of Peace.
We rejoice in his coming:
the dawn of hope,
the gift of peace,
the song of joy,
the revelation of God's love.
We light the Christ candle,
a radiant sign of the new life God promises
in the birth of this child.
(Light the Christ candle)
May the warmth of Christ’s light surround all people,
bringing comfort to the weary
and strength to those who are burdened.
As this light shines among us,
may it also shine through us,
in deeds shaped by hope, peace, joy, and love.
We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus,
the Light of the World. Amen.

A Christmas Eve Litany (based on Psalm 126)
When our lives feel dry and parched, O Lord,
send the living waters of your Spirit.
Restore us, revive our hope,
and cause new life to spring up among us.
Immanuel, come quickly.
When our days seem empty and our fields barren,
promise us a rich harvest.
Send us home carrying sheaves of blessing,
fill us with your abundance,
and teach us to share.
Immanuel, come quickly.
When our bodies are weary
and our spirits bowed low,
turn our tears into laughter,
and our sighs into songs of joy.
Immanuel, come quickly.
When our lives feel small
and hope grows thin,
open our eyes to see greater things,
stretch our vision, and widen our hearts.
Immanuel, come quickly.
As you restored your people long ago,
restore us again, O Lord,
until our mouths are filled with laughter
and our tongues with songs of joy.
Immanuel, come quickly. Amen.
